Job Overview
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for planning and implementing WV content standards and high-quality secondary learning objectives, instructing students using effective instructional strategies and providing appropriate learning experiences, with high expectations for all.
- Responsible for implementing adopted and supplemental academic programs
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
- Participate as a contributing member of the relevant, assigned department or program.
- Keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports as assigned. Collaborate with interventionists, share data, identify student needs, and utilize expertise to support targeted interventions.
- Analyzes data to improve instruction and models instructional strategies which promote student achievement.
- Communicate with parents through a variety of means, including conferences, to discuss student progress and interpret academic program objectives and requirements
- Provide learning experiences designed to meet individual needs through individual and/or group instruction.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in and out of the classroom by providing a safe and secure environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and university.
- Valid teaching certificate licensing the individual to teach in the specializations and grade levels of the assigned endorsement area, pursuant to WV Code §18A-3-2; Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10, as appropriate; Meet the qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A-3-2a.
