QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must hold a valid Iowa Coaching Authorization or Iowa Teaching License with Coaching Endorsement.
2. Has the ability to help organize and supervise a total sports program.
3. Some previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport, preferred. (Major sports)
4. Must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintains a safe environment and facilities for student athletes at all times.
2. Develops appropriate practice plans and schedules.
3. Travels with student athletes both to and from away games.
4. Maintains proper paperwork and documentation.
5. Works with the athletic director to ensure athletic eligibility.
6. Ensures that medical and safety requirements are adhered to.
7. Must demonstrate the ability to teach and coach young people in the fundamentals and techniques.
8. Must demonstrate the appropriate competitive drive to develop and maintain a strong program.
9. Must demonstrate desire to constantly improve the program and overall sports program at Central DeWitt High School.
10. Must demonstrate ability to motivate student-athletes to be the best they can be on the field and in the classroom.
11. Must demonstrate ability to communicate with all stakeholders including but not limited to administration, staff, students, and booster club.
12. Must provide adequate supervision before, during and after practices/games.
13. Monitors equipment rooms and coaches' offices, authorizes who may enter, issue or requisition equipment.
14. Permits athletes to only be in authorized areas of the building at the appropriate times.
