Job Overview

The Assistant Coach, Women’s Swimming is responsible for assisting in the direction of all phases of a nationally competitive athletic program in accordance with Barry University, the Sunshine State Conference, and NCAA DII regulations. Responsible for supporting the Head Coach by providing individual instruction/ teaching of said sport. The Assistant Coach coordinates community involvement, completing/submitting administrative compliance documents and other duties assigned by the Head Coach, Sport Supervisor or Athletic Director.

Essential Functions:

  1. Assists the head coach with instructing/ teaching student-athletes in the rules, regulations, and techniques of the sport.
  2. Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head coach.
  3. Assists the head coach with supervising student-athletes during practices and competition.
  4. Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
  5. Teaches assigned fundamentals and skills during practice and games.
  6. Assesses player’s skills and keeps the head coach informed of the athletic performance of students.
  7. Models professional behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree required. A Master's degree is preferred.
  2. 1 - 3 years of relevant work experience required.
  3. General Knowledge to identify, scrutinize, improve, and streamline work.
  4. Valid driver's license required.
  5. Technically proficient in all Office Equipment.
  6. Adept at written and oral communication.
