Job Overview
The Pathfinder Middle School Swim & Dive Coach is responsible for organizing, leading, and developing the school's swim and dive program. The coach will instruct student-athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training needed to compete successfully while promoting good sportsmanship, teamwork, academic success, and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead all practices, swim meets, and diving competitions.
- Instruct athletes in the rules, techniques, and strategies of swimming and diving.
- Promote safety and ensure compliance with all school, district, and league rules.
- Monitor and support the academic progress and personal growth of student-athletes.
- Maintain open communication with athletes, parents, school staff, and the athletic director.
- Manage team logistics, including scheduling practices, coordinating transportation, and preparing for meets.
- Supervise athletes at all team functions, ensuring safety and appropriate conduct.
- Maintain inventory of team equipment and request supplies as needed.
- Uphold the values of inclusivity, integrity, and sportsmanship within the team culture.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Prior coaching experience in swimming/diving, especially with youth or school-aged athletes.
- Current CPR/First Aid and Lifeguard certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Knowledge of swim and dive rules, techniques, and training strategies.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes of varying skill levels.
