Job Overview

Gustavus Adolphus College, a private liberal arts institution and member of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC), is seeking a full-time Assistant Men's and Women's Track & Field Coach. This position is responsible for assisting in the planning, development, and administration of all phases of a competitive NCAA Division III track and field program. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to fostering a positive student-athlete experience and support the College's mission of preparing students for lives of leadership, service, and lifelong learning.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Preferred event experience/coaching in hurdles, high jump, multis, sprints or throws but best candidates regardless of events will be considered
  2. Plan and implement event specific training and competition planning appropriate to each athlete and event group.
  3. Support and promote the team expectations and vision of Gustavus Track & Field.
  4. Demonstrate leadership, sportsmanship and professionalism.
  5. Effectively communicate and work cooperatively with our coaching staff and athletic department.
  6. Assist Head Coach with all other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICAIONS:

  1. High School Diploma; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  2. Ability to build positive relationships and communicate effectively with student-athletes and coaching staff.
  3. Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel with the team as required.
  4. Knowledge of, and compliance with, NCAA Division III, MIAC and Gustavus Adolphus College governing rules and regulations.
  5. Previous experience as a college athlete or coach.
