The Assistant Coach for Volleyball plays a key role in supporting the university’s NCAA Division II volleyball program, working under the direction of the Head Coach to ensure student-athletes are trained, prepared, and supported on and off the court. This position assists with daily practices, game strategy, recruiting efforts, academic support coordination, and travel planning.

Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with the Head Coach to plan and implement all aspects of a successful athletic program.
2. Lead regular team practices that align with program objectives and competitive strategy.
3. Instruct and guide student-athletes during practices and competitions to improve performance.
4. Evaluate student-athlete development through observation, feedback, and performance metrics.
5. Educate and advise student-athletes on compliance with institutional, NCAA, Lone Star Conference, and UTPB regulations, including financial aid, eligibility, and code of conduct.
6. Provide mentorship to student-athletes regarding appropriate personal conduct and professional appearance as representatives of the university.
7. Assist in monitoring and supporting the academic progress and eligibility of student-athletes in coordination with the Head Coach and academic support staff.
8. Represent the program during practices, competitions, and team functions in the absence of the Head Coach.
9. Promote the philosophy and objectives of the UTPB intercollegiate athletics program while adhering to all policies and procedures set by the Department of Athletics, UTPB, NCAA, Lone Star Conference, University of Texas System, and the State of Texas.
10. Coordinate and conduct recruiting activities, including scheduling and hosting campus visits, conducting off-campus evaluations and contacts, and maintaining accurate documentation in compliance with NCAA regulations.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree.
2. Have knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations pertaining to the recruitment and retention of student-athletes.
3. Possesses an unencumbered driver’s license and the ability to travel.
