Job Overview

Job Goal:  To implement an effective educational program for the appointed grade level and subject area(s) using the designated course of study, appropriate materials and resources, and best instructional practices. Qualifications:

• Holds or able to acquire a valid teaching certificate in Alabama with proper endorsement in teaching field.
• Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board might find appropriate and acceptable.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, mission, goals, and priorities.
• Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.
• Demonstrates competent knowledge of the structure of the academic discipline related to assigned subject-matter content areas.
• Demonstrates competent knowledge of the Alabama Course Of Study locally developed curriculum guides related to the teaching assignment.
• Anchors content knowledge in learning experiences that are meaningful and engaging.
• Defines clear goals and objectives for unit daily lesson plans.
• Provides accommodations, modifications, and/or adaptations to the curriculum Uses students’ prior knowledge and experiences to introduce new subject-area content and present instructional experiences that are designed to be motivating and engaging for those students.
• Implements developmentally appropriate instructional strategies.
• Utilizes a variety of flexible student groupings to support differentiated instruction.
• Utilizes ongoing formative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional plans accordingly.
• Collaborates with other teachers to interpret and use student data for Instructional planning and program evaluation.
