Job Overview
Qualifications:
  • Candidates should have experience coaching at the varsity level either as a head coach or as a varsity assistant coach.
  • They also need to be a self-starter, have strong communication skills, and the ability to work as part of a team to ensure the success of our student-athletes.
  • Strong organizational skills are needed to ensure the entire program is run in lock step with the core values of the Waltham Public Schools and its Athletic Department.
Duties:
  • Being responsible for all game and practice preparation and coaching at the varsity level and supporting the sub varsity coaching staff when needed.
  • Developing your non league schedule based around power rankings and finding competitive games each year.
  • Completing all administrative duties - including all departmental paperwork and policies.
  • Team evaluation and selection.
  • Working with the student/families to make certain that they complete all of the registration in order to make certain that our students are eligible for participation.
  • Following all MIAA, league, and school policies and procedures.
  • Equipment management, including uniforms and safety devices/materials.
  • Working with parents/guardians, booster groups, and community youth programs to establish respectful relationships and enhance our school programs.
  • Working collaboratively with all other Waltham High School coaches, under the direction of the Athletic Director. This includes, but is not limited to: Working to coordinate schedules of games, practices, and events.
  • Working with the athletic director to review expectations, nominate 1024 candidates, organize end of season gatherings, and to set yearly goals to improve the program.
