Carteret Community College (Morehead City, NC) is excited to launch Year 1 of its NJCAA athletics programs and invites dynamic, student-centered leaders to apply for the position of Assistant Athletic Director. The Assistant Athletic Director serves as the primary Sports Information Director (SID) while assisting the Athletic Director with the administration, promotion, and operational oversight of Carteret Community College’s intercollegiate athletics program. This position supports NJCAA-compliant operations, athletic communications, marketing, donor and sponsor engagement, and comprehensive game-day management.

Duties include:
•Assist with eligibility certification, roster management, and NJCAA compliance. Support academic monitoring and reporting requirements.
•Serve as Sports Information Director (SID) for Carteret Community College Athletics.
•Maintain statistical records and submit required NJCAA reports.
•Write and distribute press releases, game recaps, previews, and feature stories.
•Coordinate media relations and serve as liaison with the NJCAA, conference offices, and opposing institutions.
•Maintain and manage the athletic website, including schedules, rosters, statistics, news, and multimedia content.
•Coordinate live stats and post-game reporting.
•Lead athletic marketing efforts per institutional branding standards, manage social media platforms, coordinate promotions, group sales, theme nights, and community outreach initiatives to increase attendance and engagement.
•Lead athletic sponsorship outreach and solicitation efforts and ensure fulfillment of athletic donor and sponsor benefits, including signage, public address announcements, and digital recognition. Coordinate sponsor visibility at athletic events.
•Administer student-athlete insurance and support management of institutional insurance policies, including claims processing, compliance, and coordination with providers.
•Hire, train, and supervise game-day staff.
•Coordinate officials and event operations.
•Set up, operate, and break down concession stands and manage cash handling per college policy.
•Assist with the collection, laundering, distribution, and inventory of athletic uniforms, equipment, and practice gear.
•Develop, promote, and coordinate athletic camps, supporting program growth, community engagement, and revenue generation.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Associate’s degree required. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field
Knowledge and Skills: The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 1–2 years of experience in athletic administration or playing at the collegiate level with NJCAA experience preferred. They must demonstrate strong communication and technical skills, A proven capacity to foster a positive team culture and uphold the values of Carteret Community College is essential, as are strong organizational and time-management skills.
Licensing Requirement: A valid driver’s license. CPR/First Aid certification preferred
Physical requirements: Duties include the ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods and to move between campus and athletic facilities, including navigating stairs, bleachers, and uneven surfaces. The position requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment and to handle athletic and event-related materials. The incumbent must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull items weighing up to approximately 25 pounds. The position also requires the ability to communicate effectively with students, employees, and the public in both office and large-event settings, including environments with elevated noise levels. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions. This position may require evening and weekend work and occasional travel.
