Assistant Coach, Women’s Basketball

Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Head Basketball Coach, the
Assistant Coach will serve as a member of the Department of
Athletics and be responsible for administration of all aspects
relating to a positive and beneficial intercollegiate athletics
experience for student-athletes. Must be available nights and
weekend hours.
Job Description:
The Assistant coach at Fort Lewis College, an NCAA Division II
institution in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, is
responsible for assisting all aspects of an athletically
competitive basketball program, including, but not limited
to:
Organizing and conducting skill instruction, practice, and
training schedules
Effectively manage relationships with student-athletes, coaches
and the broader campus community
Strategize and meet recruiting goals along with all other
aspects of the evaluation of prospective student-athletes
Provide appropriate leadership in practice and competitive
environments
Conduct sound fiscal management, and participate in fundraising
activities supporting the program
Ensure a quality student-athlete experience through community
engagement, campus involvement, and competitive achievement
Monitor academic and disciplinary standing of
student-athletes
Establish positive relationships with support staff
Assist in planning as well as participate in basketball camps
and clinics
Represent the basketball program as designated by the head
coach
Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive
vehicles per board policy
Ability to drive up to 15-passenger van/bus
Other duties as assigned
Required Education, Specialized Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree
Experience in coaching Women’s Basketball at the collegiate
level, elite club or high school level.
A thorough knowledge of and commitment to compliance with the
rules, regulations and policies of NCAA and the Rocky Mountain
Athletic Conference.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Education, Specialized Skills and Experience:
Demonstrated leadership abilities
Experience in coaching at the collegiate level
Experience in fundraising
Reports To / Supervisory Responsibility:
Employee reports to the Women’s Basketball Head Coach.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close
vision requirements due to specific computer work
Light to moderate lifting is required
Travel to non-conference and conference scheduled away games,
NCAA post-season contests and RMAC meetings. Out of state travel
may be necessary for recruiting / professional development
Compensation
The s alary range is $35,000, plus a comprehensive benefits package
