Position Summary

The Assistant Coach is one of the positions responsible for administering all of the year-round activities of the volleyball program. The Assistant Coach is directly responsible to the Head Coach in all matters related to the operation of this program.

Minimum Qualifications
• A Bachelor’s degree is required.

Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates

Preferred Qualifications
• Prior Division I participation and/or coaching experience in women’s volleyball are preferred.
• Knowledge of NCAA rules as they apply to Division I.
• Certification in first aid/CPR.

Game & Practice Planning

Essential Tasks
• Assists with determining game strategy and scouting of opponents.
• Assists with the creation of practice plans throughout the season.
• Assists with player skill development.

Percentage Of Time 30% Key Responsibility

Recruitment of Student-Athletes

Essential Tasks
• Assist the Head Coach in determining positional needs and identifying potential student-athletes.
• Determining if a potential student-athlete will meet the academic and athletic profile to be successful at UNCG.

Percentage Of Time 20% Key Responsibility

Academic Monitoring

Essential Tasks
• Once the student-athlete has matriculated, the Assistant Coach is the primary contact in the weekly monitoring of the student-athletes’ academic progress.
• The Assistant Coach will communicate with the department’s Spartan Academic Support Services personnel and assist in student-athletes’ academic action plans.
