Fork Union Military Academy, an all-boys boarding school located in the beautiful central Virginia region near Charlottesville, Richmond, and the Blue Ridge Mountains, is currently seeking assistant Football Coaches for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year.

Mission

Fork Union Military Academy’s Mission is to educate, develop, and inspire young men in a college preparatory, Christian, military structured environment. Cadets build character and learn leadership, independence, responsibility and discipline in a setting that encourages mental, physical, and spiritual growth. In this mission, our Instructors and Coaches are the heart of our programs and foster personal development with daily interaction and the ability to teach, advise, and coach our Cadets.

Description

Coaches and Assistant Coaches are responsible for being specialists in athletic and student development. Coaches at any level, and in any specialty, shall be further willing to adhere to, enforce, encourage, and instruct per the Academy’s mission and core values to all Cadets.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Provide quality athletic instruction consistent with the Academy’s needs and direction of the head coachBe cognoscente of the developmental stages of adolescent age boys and set them up for success inside and outside of the classroomFollow guidance provided by head coaches and the Athletic DirectorAssist in instructing the planned activities as deemed appropriate by the head coachDevelop and maintain a well-managed, positive, sports environment that inspires successWork diligently toward consistency in and out of the classroom to better support a well-rounded, positive, cadet developmentProvide timely and complete responses to the head coaches or to the Athletic Director as deemed appropriateWork in conjunction with Academics and Residential Life to provide consistency in culture for cadetsAdhere to and support Academy standards of proper appearance, decorum, and timely fulfillment of required duties.Required Skills/Abilities:

Professionally perform all duties as a role model to cadets within the appropriate scope of dutiesBe cognoscente of the developmental stages of adolescent age boys and set them up for success inside and outside of the classroomBe able to collaborate with and support the head coaches in a professional and consistent manner

Education and Experience:

Must have the ability to safely instruct cadet athletes in proper sports practicesHave a background in working with youth sports programsExperience interacting with youthMust be able to pass background and drug screeningsFork Union Military Academy is a veteran friendly employerPhysical Requirements:

Expected hours of work are conditionally flexible per the contract issuedAdditional hours of work may be conditionally offered during seasonal events, or as directed by the Academy’s needsAbility to climb three flights of stairs and carry at least 40 poundsAbility to push, pull, or lift up to 70 pounds as neededAbility to sit, stand, or squat as needed.Must successfully pass a background check and drug testingProlonged periods of standing, walking, running, sitting, kneeling, stooping, or working on a computer may be deemed necessary at any timeIf you are passionate about education and eager to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young men, we want to hear from you!
