Assistant HS Spring Track and Field Coach

North Plainfield Athletic Department is seeking a motivated and dedicated Assistant Spring Track & Field Coach to support the development of our student-athletes both on and off the track. The ideal candidate will assist with daily practices, event-specific training, meet preparation, and supervision while promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic responsibility.

Description of Position/Responsibilities:
• Assist the Head Coach with planning and conducting practices
• Provide instruction and technical coaching for assigned event areas (e.g., sprints, distance, jumps, throws, hurdles)
• Supervise student-athletes during practices, competitions, and team travel
• Support meet preparation, warm-ups, and post-meet responsibilities
• Reinforce school, district, and NJSIAA rules and expectations
• Promote a positive, inclusive, and safe team environment
• Communicate effectively with athletes, coaches, and athletic administration
• Assist with equipment management and facility setup/breakdown

Qualifications:
• Valid NJ Department of Education teaching or substitute certificate
• Prior coaching experience preferred
• Knowledge of track & field techniques and training methods
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a coaching staff
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Commitment to student-athlete development and sportsmanship

Salary: $7,091.00
