Job Summary
The Assistant Volleyball Coach supports the Head Volleyball Coach in all aspects of operating a competitive NCAA Division I program within the United Athletic Conference. This includes coaching, recruiting, student athlete development, academic support, and program administration. The position upholds the mission, values, and strategic priorities of the University of West Georgia and is expected to model the highest level of professionalism and integrity.
Responsibilities
• Coaching & Player Development – Provide on court coaching focused on individual skill development, competitive growth, and holistic student athlete support. Assist in creating and executing practice plans and game strategies under the direction of the Head Coach. Foster a positive, competitive, and inclusive team environment.
• Recruiting – Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student athletes who align with UWG’s academic and athletic standards. Coordinate recruiting communications and maintain consistent, professional contact with recruits and their families. Represent UWG at recruiting events, showcases, and high school/club programs.
• Team Operations & Administration – Assist with team travel logistics, meal planning, and itinerary coordination. Support program operations by completing administrative tasks including compliance documentation, recruiting records, and communication responsibilities. Track academic progress of student athletes, oversee study hall requirements, and collaborate with campus resources to support academic success.
• Camps, Clinics & Community Engagement -Help organize and execute youth camps, clinics, fundraising events, and community engagement initiatives that promote UWG Volleyball.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree and previous volleyball playing and coaching experience
Preferred Qualifications
3-5 years of coaching experience or collegiate playing experience
