Job Summary:
Drake University is seeking applicants for an Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach. The successful candidate will assist in the development and execution of effective practice and competition plans and provide feedback and demonstrations to student-athletes related to athletic technique and skill development. In addition, they will support a positive academic, athletic, and social environment for student-athletes while creating a culture of excellence and ethics. Prior college coaching experience required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Knowledge and basic proficiency using Word, Excel, Google Applications and Photoshop.
Knowledge of applicable NCAA Rules and regulations.
Experience playing at the collegiate level preferred.
Master’s degree preferred.
Coaching experience at the collegiate or professional level preferred.
Skills Needed:
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information.
Ability to build rapport and students, faculty and staff.
Skills to help student-athletes improve through training / coaching.
Proficiency to produce scouting reports, recruiting evaluations and complete work within deadlines.
Experience with Synergy, video editing, FastDraw software.
Familiarity for current research and trends in basketball.
Ability to develop and sustain relationships with prospective student athletes, parents, and coaches.
Job Duties:
30% – Assist in the development and execution of effective practice and competition plans, including pre-and post-season conditioning programs. Provide feedback, including explanations and demonstrations, to student-athletes about athletic technique and skill development and to achieve proficiency. – (Essential)
30% – Assist in recruiting and retaining talented student-athletes. – (Essential)
10% – Provide leadership for a positive academic, athletic, and social environment for student-athletes and contribute to a culture of excellence and ethics. – (Essential)
10% – Assist with administrative duties, including but not limited to: NCAA and Drake University compliance processes, competition scheduling, business and finance paperwork, facilities reservations, community service functions, event planning, and fundraising, etc. – (Essential)
5% – Demonstrate appropriate communication related to internal (coaching staff, student-athletes, athletics staff) and external (fans, parents, prospects, campus community, etc.) – (Essential)
5% – Contribute to a positive working environment within the Department and University. – (Essential)
