Pay Range
Compensation for this position is expected to range between
$120,000.00 and $160,000.00 per year, in alignment with what
California Baptist University ( CBU ) reasonably anticipates paying
for this role. The final rate may vary depending on the candidate’s
qualifications, experience, and prevailing market conditions. In

Position Summary Information
Summary
Under general supervision, assist in coaching duties for the sport
assigned at California Baptist University. Assist with aspects of
the program that may include recruitment, training and/or strength
training for athletic competition by performing the following
duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
1. Assist the head coach in organizing, preparing, and conducting
individual and team practices, training, and competition using
sound principles and judgment consistent with the philosophy of CBU
Athletics.
2. Design workout programs and training routines to improve
athletic performance.
3. Implement and supervise athletic training, strength, and
conditioning workouts; provide technical support and training to
athletes, as appropriate to the sport.
4. Perform administrative duties including ordering and maintaining
equipment, monitoring budgets, and initiating correspondence.
5. Assist in coaching all sport practices throughout the season,
taking attendance at all practices.
6. Assist in planning the training of the team during the sport
season and out of season.
7. Keep records and statistics during games and as directed by the
Head Coach. Motivate team for maximum performance by utilizing
motivational philosophies that meet the needs of the students and
that are consistent with the CBU Athletic Program philosophy.
8. Display good sportsmanship in relationship with students, staff,
officials, and opponents as consistent with NCAA policies regarding
the principle of sportsmanship and ethical conduct.
9. Maintain up-to-date information of sport regulations, rule
changes, and NCAA policies.
10. Assist in recruiting and following up with qualified student
athletes by phone, e-mail or through on-campus visits.
11. Recruit prospective student athletes who are of the level
necessary to be successful academically and athletically within the
framework of CBU and NCAA policies.
12. Assist with Film Exchange and video editing.
13. Adhere to all institutional, conference and NCAA by-laws and
regulations.
14. Ensure the physical, emotional, and social welfare of student
athletes.
15. Establish and ensure a safe environment for student
athletes.
16. Support the head coach in monitoring and reinforcing all NCAA
bylaws and procedures.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory duties.

Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and
judgments.
Skills in the use of first aid procedures and knowledge of CPR
and emergency medical procedures.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency
situations.
Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and
inventory control.
Ability to read, understand, follow technical instructions,
manuals, and enforce safety procedures.
Ability to travel, including domestic/international air travel,
and work nights/weekends.
Assist the head coach in effectively arranging home and away
contests according to conference and NCAA requirements and submit
travel paperwork and NCAA pass lists on time.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS : The physical demands described here are
representative of those that must be met by an employee to
successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While
performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly
required to stand; walk; and sit. Requires visual acuity to read
words and numbers and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to
communicate in person or over the phone. Moderate physical
activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25
pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per

WORK ENVIRONMENT : The work environment characteristics
described here are representative of those an employee encounters
while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise
level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work involves
moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme
temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or
loud noises. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or
physical risks, which require following basic safety
precautions.
Education and/or Experience
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE : Bachelor’s degree from
four-year college or university; and one to two years related
experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education
and experience. NCAA experience preferred.
