Position Overview
Golda Och Academy is seeking a dynamic and organized Athletic Director to lead and oversee all aspects of our middle school and high school athletics program.
This is a full-time leadership role responsible for athletics program management, coach supervision, student-athlete development, scheduling, compliance, and operations. The Athletic Director plays a key role in promoting student wellness, teamwork, and school spirit within a vibrant independent school community.
Key Responsibilities
Athletics Program Leadership
Lead and manage all middle school and high school sports programs (interscholastic and intramural)
Develop and implement a comprehensive athletics program aligned with school values
Build a positive, inclusive, and competitive student-athlete experience
Coaching Staff Management
Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate coaches
Provide ongoing feedback, supervision, and professional development
Ensure coaches follow school policies and best practices
Scheduling, Events & Operations
Coordinate game schedules, practices, transportation, and facilities
Organize athletic events and awards programs
Serve as liaison with leagues, conferences, and opposing schools
Oversee uniforms, equipment, and facility safety
Student-Athlete Development
Promote participation in athletics and wellness programs
Support leadership, sportsmanship, and character development
Monitor academic eligibility in partnership with school leadership
Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with New Jersey state regulations, league rules, and school policies
Oversee safety protocols, including concussion management and emergency procedures
Maintain accurate records (rosters, certifications, incident reports)
Communication & Community Engagement
Communicate with students, families, faculty, and administration
Represent the school at games, meetings, and events
Support promotion of athletics through school communications
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred (Physical Education, Sports Management, Education, or related field)
3–5+ years of experience in athletic administration, coaching, or school athletics
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Knowledge of athletic program management, student development, and safety standards
CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)
Schedule & Work Environment
Full-time position
Includes evenings and occasional weekends (athletic events)
Work takes place across school, gymnasium, and outdoor athletic facilities

Pay: $65,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
