Reports to the Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine

Work Setting/Schedule:

Primarily on-campus

Must be able to travel with the team for competitions as necessary.

Requires night and weekend availability

What You Will Do:

Clinical (60%)

Complete oversight and delivery of the health and safety services for assigned student-athletes in the sports medicine facility.In collaboration with team physicians, prevent, diagnose, and treat emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities as defined by the NATA along with rehabilitation of said medical conditions.Maintain knowledge of best practices in athletic medicine industry; research and integrate evidence-based training strategiesEstablish, implement, and evaluate best practices and protocols; recommend changes to improve training servicesServes as a specialist/subject matter expert in specific training areasAdministrative (30%)

Coordinate and schedule medical referrals when applicableWork in conjunction with other members of Sport Performance Team to ensure safety in successful design and implement training techniques to meet individual student athlete as well as sport program needsManage insurance claim processOversee assigned student athlete medical records; daily injury reporting and medical documentation/record keeping.Education (10%)

Provide educational programs to student-athletes and staffUpdate policies and procedures to reflect NCAA, Conference and Institution Health and Safety-related updates, legislation, and interassociation recommendationsWhat You Will Bring:

Bachelor’s Degree

BOC Certification eligible with preference given to those already certified

Must possess a State of Pennsylvania License or be State of Pennsylvania License eligible

Ability to maintain current CPR and First Aid certification

Valid US driver’s license/Motor Vehicle Check required upon hire

Preferred, But Not Required

Master’s Degree

1-2 years collegiate athletics experience preferred

Physical Requirements

Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises

Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day

The Community

Lewisburg (pop. 5,700) is located in central Pennsylvania and features beautiful Victorian homes, the restored art deco Campus Theatre (owned by the University), a variety of restaurants, shops and boutiques, and the Barnes & Noble at Bucknell University Bookstore.
