Girls High School Assistant Varsity Outdoor Track and Field Coach

Part-time seasonal (March-June) opening for an Outdoor Track and Field Assistant Coach at Academy of the Holy Names (Albany, NY), the Capital Region’s only all-girls, private, Catholic, college-preparatory school for grades 6-12. Candidates must have experience coaching or participating in running sports.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you’ll work alongside the Head Coach and assist in the following duties:

Teach and develop fundamental running skills including motions and techniqueDevelop and implement an appropriate cardiovascular aerobic conditioning regimen which is differentiated between sprinters, mid-distance, and distance athletes as well as field athletes.Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all athletesEmphasize teamwork, sportsmanship, and confidence-buildingPlan and lead organized, productive practicesEnsure athlete safety at all times and follow all school guidelinesEnsure athlete safety at all times and follow all League, Section, and NYSPHSAA guidelinesCommunicate effectively with athletes, families, and school staffConduct correct entries to meets and competitionsAttend all practices and all competitionsWork with the Athletic Director on the issues of transportation, entries, compliance, and regulations.Work with the Athletic Director to ensure field and equipment safety as well as manage uniformsPerform other duties as assigned by the Athletic DirectorQualifications:

Running experience (coaching or participation) requiredStrong knowledge of skill progressions and proper techniqueCurrent CPR, AED, and First Aid certificationsAbility to motivate and connect with middle/high school athletesOrganized, reliable, and energeticIf you’re passionate about cross country and running sports, and if you love working with student-athletes in a fun, growth-focused setting, we’d love to have you join our team!
