Position: Head Athletic Trainer / Assistant Athletic Director for Student – Athlete Development and Wellness Description Position Title: Head Athletic Trainer / Assistant Athletic Director for Student – Athlete Development and Wellness Reports To: Athletic Director Department: Athletics Classification: Salary Exempt, Full-time, 12-months, Benefits Eligible POSITION OVERVIEW LeMoyne-Owen College seeks a dynamic, student-centered, and collaborative professional to serve as Head Athletic Trainer / Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Development & Wellness. This dual-role position provides leadership for all aspects of athletic training, sports medicine, injury prevention, and holistic student-athlete wellness while also overseeing leadership development, personal growth, and community engagement initiatives for student-athletes. The successful candidate will be committed to developing healthy, resilient, and engaged student-athletes by fostering a culture that prioritizes physical health, mental wellness, servant leadership, and personal development throughout the student-athlete experience. This position serves as the department’s chief wellness officer and leader for student-athlete development outside of academic performance. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, and WellnessWork collaboratively with student-athletes, coaches, physicians, and other healthcare professionals in the prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, referral, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play process for all student-athletes.Provide emergency medical care and treatment during practices, competitions, and athletic activities.Be present and actively observe practices and competitions for all athletic programs. Travel with teams as assigned.Participate in preseason meetings for all sports programs.Maintain accurate and confidential medical records for all student-athletes.Design and implement evidence-based injury prevention and rehabilitation programs.Coordinate referrals and transportation to external healthcare providers.Communicate student-athlete rehabilitation progress and return-to-play status with coaching staff.Supervise and maintain the athletic training facility and all related equipment.Maintain inventory and replenish training room supplies.Establish collaborative relationships with athletic trainers and healthcare professionals throughout the SIAC.Oversee team strength and conditioning initiatives.Supervise athletic training staff, interns, graduate assistants, and student workers.Student-Athlete Development and WellnessDevelop and oversee a comprehensive student-athlete wellness and personal development program.Coordinate mental health awareness initiatives in partnership with campus and community resources.Develop wellness programming focused on nutrition, sleep, recovery, stress management, and healthy lifestyle habits.Create and oversee a Student-Athlete Leadership Council.Develop servant leadership initiatives that cultivate accountability, integrity, and leadership skills.Coordinate student-athlete community service and civic engagement activities.Develop transition programming that prepares student-athletes for life beyond competition.Facilitate workshops on financial literacy, communication skills, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, professional etiquette, and personal branding.Administer departmental drug testing policies in accordance with NCAA, conference, and institutional guidelines.Collaborate with Counseling Services, Student Affairs, Alumni Relations, and Community Engagement to enhance the student-athlete experience.Administrative ResponsibilitiesServe as a member of the Athletics leadership team.Communicate effectively with all stakeholders.Maintain compliance with institutional, SIAC, and NCAA regulations.Collect and analyze wellness participation data and outcomes.Assist with strategic planning initiatives.Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field.Current NATABOC certification and required state licensure.CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.Experience working with collegiate student-athletes.Excellent…
