Head Coach: Men’s Basketball JV (PT)

About the position

The Junior Varsity Basketball Head Coach is responsible for leading and managing the Aquinas College JV Men’s Basketball team while supporting the overall mission and culture of the Aquinas Basketball program.nnThis position focuses on player development, academic accountability, and preparation of student-athletes for potential advancement within the varsity program.nnThis position plays an important role in the development of student-athletes both academically and athletically, while contributing to the overall success and culture of the Aquinas Men’s Basketball program.

Responsibilities

Coach approximately 20 junior varsity games during the season.Plan and lead team practices 4–5 days per week.Organize structured practices focused on skill development, team concepts, and program systems.Develop individual basketball skills and fundamentals.Teach and reinforce team concepts and program terminology consistent with the varsity program.Coordinate individual workouts to help players continue to grow and stay engaged with the program.Maintain weekly academic check-ins with 4–5 assigned student-athletes.Monitor and discuss:no Academic progress in each classno Assignments and coursework completionno Returned grades and academic standingno Attendance at required academic meetings or support sessionsno Assist with monitoring study table participation and academic accountability.Assist with varsity practices and/or gamesSupport the recruitment and identification of potential JV student-athletes.Assist with film breakdown and scouting reports as requested.Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institutionStrong communication and organizational skillsCommitment to academic success and character developmentAbility to work evening and weekends during the seasonMust demonstrate commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and motivating environment for all student-athletes.Nice-to-haves

Previous coaching experience at high school and/or collegiate level preferred
