Our client, a prestigious university in **Salt Lake City, Utah, US**, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head Coach to lead their NCAA Division I Ski Team. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for all aspects of the ski program, including recruitment, training, athlete development, and competition strategy. You will be tasked with building and maintaining a highly competitive team, fostering a positive team culture, and ensuring the academic success and personal well-being of student-athletes. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of ski racing techniques, training methodologies, and the NCAA compliance rules.
You will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive training plans, designing race strategies, and managing the team’s budget and equipment. This role requires exceptional leadership, motivational, and communication skills to inspire athletes and staff. Building strong relationships with university athletic administration, alumni, parents, and external stakeholders is also crucial for the program’s success and support. The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to upholding the highest standards of sportsmanship, integrity, and academic achievement.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement effective training programs to enhance athlete performance. Recruit talented student-athletes who meet both athletic and academic standards. Design competitive race strategies and manage team logistics during competitions. Oversee the team budget, including equipment, travel, and staffing. Ensure strict adherence to all NCAA and university regulations. Mentor and guide student-athletes in their athletic, academic, and personal development. Promote a positive and inclusive team environment that emphasizes sportsmanship and character. Scout potential student-athletes and build relationships with high school coaches and programs. Collaborate with athletic department staff, including strength and conditioning coaches and sports medicine personnel. Represent the ski team and university at various athletic events and community functions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years of coaching experience at the collegiate or high-level junior ski racing level. Proven track record of success in developing athletes and building competitive teams. In-depth knowledge of ski racing techniques, biomechanics, and sports physiology. Strong understanding of NCAA rules and regulations. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to recruit effectively. Experience in budget management and resource allocation. Passion for student-athlete development and well-being.
