Schedule: 40 hours, Monday to Friday. Will require evenings and weekends.

Job Description:
The Head Men’s Basketball Coach is responsible for providing effective leadership for, and day-to-day management of, the men’s basketball program. This position supports the academic mission of the college through athletics and recreation programs by teaching and demonstrating examples of leadership and value based decision making to student-athletes. The Head Coach facilitates integration of athletics into student’s educational experience and initiates activities in support of the department.
Essential Functions
Design and execute a comprehensive strategic recruitment vision to identify and secure elite student-athletes who align with the program’s high-academic and competitive standards. Orchestrate the administrative lifecycle of the recruiting process in partnership with Enrollment Management, ensuring the integrity and timely submission of all prospective student-athlete documentation to meet rigorous institutional and regulatory deadlines. Maintain and increase roster sizes as directed.
Execute a comprehensive tactical vision to maximize team performance and individual skill acquisition. Serve as the primary mentor for student-athletes, balancing high-level athletic instruction with academic integrity, personal growth, and a commitment to evidence-based safety protocols. Provide transformative leadership and professional development to the assistant coaching staff, ensuring a unified approach to program goals and departmental standards.
Cultivate a culture of academic rigor that aligns with the College’s mission of excellence. Establish and enforce clear academic standards for student-athletes, ensuring high graduation rates and consistent progress toward degree completion. Serve as the primary advocate for the holistic health, mental well-being, and personal development of all program participants.
Drive the program’s financial sustainability by identifying and executing diverse revenue-generating initiatives, including elite-level sports camps and targeted fundraising campaigns. In strategic partnership with Advancement, cultivate a robust philanthropic pipeline and engage a vibrant alumni network to meet and exceed annual Diplomat Athletic Club goals, ensuring the program’s long-term financial sustainability.
Serve as an ambassador for the College by upholding the highest standards of professional conduct and ethical leadership. Proactively manage program operations to ensure adherence to all NCAA, Conference, and Institutional bylaws, fostering a culture of compliance and accountability among all staff and student-athletes. Manage all program operations, including a competitive and complex schedule, practice cycles, and optimizing for competitive advantage and student-athlete recovery.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree.
At least 3-5 years of experience in coaching basketball programs.
Current CPR, AED and first aid certification.
Must pass the NCAA Division III Coaches Test.
Large Van certification within 90 days of hire.
Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
Proficiency in Google Suite Products (Docs, Gmail, Sheets, Slides, Drive).
Evidence of a commitment to community & belonging.
Valid driver’s license.
Successful interview.
Successful completion of background checks.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree.
5 or more years of experience coaching men’s basketball.
Experience coaching in a Higher Education setting.
