RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions –
• Coach and administrate all aspects of the cross-country program.
• Assist in all aspects of the track and field program.
• Coordinate the on campus intramural program.
• Evaluate and recruit student-athletes for the cross country/track and field programs.
• Work within policy guidelines and regulations of the Hutchinson Community College Athletic Department, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference, and the NJCAA.
• Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
• Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices.

Secondary –
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Athletic Director.

QUALIFICATIONS (Essential):
• Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
• Successful background in coaching track and field preferred.
• Successful management of budgets.
• Successful background in the recruitment process of student athletes preferred.
• The ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, administration, alumni, media and the general public.
• Physical requirements include excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; Visual acuity to view a computer terminal; use appropriate judgment and to apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; Moderate outdoor and indoor work environment.
• Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.
• Physical and mental qualifications must be performed with or without a reasonable accommodation.

SALARY and STATUS:

The Salary is commensurate with qualifications as determined by HutchCC administration. This full-time administration position is 12 months annual, at-will, benefit eligible and exempt.

HutchCC CSA Job Description Addendum:

Satisfy the duties of a Campus Security Authority (CSA) relating to Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (“Clery Act”) by:
• Promptly reporting Clery Act crimes and/or allegations of Clery Act crimes to the designated HutchCC official(s) in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures;
• Completing any HutchCC provided CSA training regarding campus safety and crime reporting issues;
• Assisting in the issuance of timely warnings and emergency notifications in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures;
• Serving as a resource to students, employees, and others regarding crime prevention, reporting and victim assistance; and
• Collaborating with the Coordinator of Campus Safety, the Coordinator of Equity & Compliance, and the Director of Human Resources, regarding campus safety and compliance issues.
• A professional counselor, as designated by HutchCC and whose official responsibilities include providing mental health counseling to members of the HutchCC community, may be exempt from reporting Clery Act crimes and/or allegations of Clery Act crimes when functioning within the scope of the counselor’s license or certification.
