Lay Coach – Football-Non-Certified

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instructs and coaches K-12 students on the fundamentals of sports. Works with the coaching staff with setting rules, policies and regulations for the team.
- Assists Head Coach in making systematic issuance of equipment. Assists Head Coach with coordinating and monitoring try-outs.
- Assists Head Coach with coordinating and supervising practice schedule. Assists in the supervisory control over athletes and teams assigned.
- Guides and encourages secondary school age student athletes to make appropriate decisions about further participation in sport(s) at a level appropriate to their ability.
- Works closely with other staff to coordinate completion and opportunities. Initiates where appropriate.
- Works with other partners to help monitor the impact of delivery and healthy lifestyles.
REQUIREMENTS:
- All community coaches are required to meet all policies and regulations in accordance with the GHSA Constitution and By-Laws. The GHSA strongly recommends all community coach prospects be 21 years of age or older.
- Ability to manage projects and duties with minimal supervision. Ability to effectively manage time and priorities. Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Georgia High School Association Coaching exam required.
- Analytical: emphasize safety precautions; be aware of best training procedures and injury preventative actions.
- Requires regular, frequent contact with internal and external personnel and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of moderate importance. Excellent interpersonal skills are required for working with intra-organizational teams.
- Responsible for multiple functions of supervision (athletes, equipments and staff as needed) with a high-level accountability for effective operation and results.
