Job Description
The Strength and Conditioning Assistant Coach for Athletic Performance will be responsible, but not limited to, assisting in all areas of the intercollegiate Athletic Performance Department such as developing and implementing sport‑specific programs, teaching and establishing safe and efficient Olympic lifting techniques and diverse movement skills; testing and evaluating athletic performance for their assigned Olympic Sport teams; assisting with the development and maintenance of a databank for all assigned athletes; enforcing the policies, procedures and regulations that oversee all activities in the Athletic Training Centers.
Brief Description of Duties
• Perform basic equipment cleaning and overall facility maintenance.
• Responsible for assigned sports team twelve‑month training schedule.
• Assist in building a nationally competitive Division I program.
• Collaborate with Head Coach, Athletic Trainers, and Strength & Conditioning Coaches to design academic year (in-season and out-of-season) and summer conditioning programs.
• Assist with budgeting, reconciling expenses, and proposing purchases for the sports program.
• Must be committed to the academic goals of the university and follow the rules and guidelines set forth by the NCAA and the Mountain West Conference.
• The candidate must demonstrate awareness and experience understanding the needs of a student population of great diversity—in age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation—through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies and advisement.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience.
• CSCS and CPR certification required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Minimum of two years experience as a strength and conditioning coach at the collegiate level.
• Candidate must have experience teaching various Olympic movements and working with male and female athletes including football.
• Fluency with rehabilitation programs for athletes and the ability to work with the Sports Medicine Staff.
• Applicants must demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross‑cultural study, training, teaching and other comparable experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree.
• Successful Division I collegiate or professional experience.
Compensation
Classification: 2382 Coaching Assistant
Anticipated Salary: $6,288 – $7,658 monthly

Employment Conditions

Conditional Offer
Athletic coach appointments are temporary by nature, expire at the end of the term stated and do not establish any future appointment rights. The position does not qualify for or lead to tenure but may be extended on an annual basis. The work for this faculty position is located in the State of California and requires commuting to the campus. Employment is contingent upon US residence and proof of eligibility to work in the United States. Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
