Position Overview:

South Umpqua High School is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable individual to lead our Varsity Boys Basketball program. The ideal candidate will foster a positive, competitive environment that promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, and the overall development of student-athletes both on and off the court.

Qualifications:
• Previous basketball coaching experience is strongly preferred.
• Must meet certification requirements as outlined by the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA).
• Demonstrated expertise in coaching techniques, injury prevention, and basketball strategy at a competitive level.
• A background as a basketball player is desirable.
• Must possess a valid First Aid/CPR certification at the time of hire.
• Ability to build strong, respectful relationships with student-athletes, staff, and parents.
• Commitment to supporting student-athlete academic success and personal growth.

Additional Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement effective practice plans and game strategies.
• Promote a culture of integrity, discipline, and accountability.
• Communicate clearly with players, parents, and school staff.
• Coordinate with the Athletic Director regarding program needs and OSAA compliance.
• Supervise assistant coaches and mentor players at all levels of the program.

Salary per season- $5,180-$6,068 depending on experience
