Description
The adaptive physical education teacher will provide direct services to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other complex needs in a public day school setting.
Responsibilities:
- Designs and directs adaptive physical education classes.
- Prepares relevant gross motor and gym class materials.
- Adapts activities and equipment to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Provides instruction on motor skills, fitness, and overall physical development.
- Collaborates with classroom teachers and other related service providers to support student progress.
- Participates in professional development that is specific to the field and meets requirements to maintain licensure.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education.
- Valid Physical Education PreK-8 License through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- Certification by the National Consortium for Physical Education for Individuals with Disabilities (NCPEID) preferred.
