Description
Working with Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, the Assistant Coach supports the development and implementation of sports performance training programs for 24 NCAA Division II athletic teams plus cheerleading. This position requires completion of a nationally accredited strength and conditioning certification within six months of hire.
Responsibilities:
- Teach proper resistance and exercise training techniques.
- Design, implement, and monitor strength and conditioning programs (strength, power, speed, and agility) to meet the needs of each athletic team.
- Motivate athletes and coaches to achieve maximum potential in all areas of performance.
- Anticipate potential risks of injury, take measures to remove them, and implement emergency medical procedures as needed.
- Keep updated on current strength and conditioning research through membership to appropriate professional organizations and attendance at professional conferences.
- Achieve and maintain professional certification(s) with continuing education requirements such as the CSCS credential offered through the NSCA Certification Commission.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Two years of experience in a college weight room setting.
- CPR/AED certification.
- Eligibility to complete nationally accredited strength and conditioning certification exam within six months.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
