Description
The Associate Athletics Director for Marketing is responsible for the overall development and implementation of short and long-term marketing strategies for Vanderbilt Athletics as well as oversight, management and leadership of the athletics marketing staff. This position will be a key member of the external unit that will work collaboratively across the department and university to increase brand awareness, fan engagement, community relationships, and revenue generation efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads a marketing team and manages multiple staff members.
- Assists in development of staff members and their growth opportunities
- Responsible for campus marketing, outreach, and partnerships that promote the Vanderbilt athletics brand and events.
- A special focus will be on faculty/staff and student audiences.
- Oversees community relationship growth opportunities, with an emphasis on the Nashville and middle Tennessee areas.
- Conceptualizes and oversees the creation of marketing materials (i.e. print, digital) in collaboration with creative staff.
- Develop programming to include videoboard content, pyrotechnics, on-field/court recognitions, halftime shows, sponsor activations, in-game promotion, fan contests and other entertainment elements for home events.
- Oversee band and spirit programs, including Spirit of Gold Marching Band, cheer and dance teams, and mascot programs.
- Manage applicable department budgets.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree is necessary.
- A Master’s Degree is preferred.
- Minimum 5+ years of previous experience in sports marketing is necessary.
- Prior demonstrated experience leading a team is necessary.
- Organized, detail oriented and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision is necessary.
- Proactive thinking with interest in developing and executing new ideas to better improve the brand is necessary.
