Description
The Director of Athletics is responsible for the development and implementation of the mission-centered athletic program for St. Xavier High School.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead a mission centered vision of athletics, where the sports arena is another classroom in which students develop as leaders and Men for Others.
- Formulate and recommend to the Principal objectives, plans, procedures, and programs for implementation of the athletic program.
- Oversee the evaluation and professional development of coaches.
- Oversee the recruiting and hiring of coaches in conjunction with the Principal.
- Support the Contemplatives in Action program, allowing faith and spiritual formation to interface with athletics.
- Educate Head coaches on League policy, school rules, OHSAA sport specific rules, and hiring procedures.
- Coordinate the scheduling and maintenance of all athletic facilities with appropriate internal and external personnel.
- Serve as St. Xavier’s representative and liaison with the Greater Catholic League (GCL) and OHSAA.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- The Director of Athletics will be a person who has a dynamic personality, is organized, well rounded, engaging, and who facilitates growth and collaboration inside and outside of athletics.
- Have a genuine commitment to Jesuit education.
- Have a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience with a Master’s degree in an education-related discipline.
- Demonstrate a track record of success in athletic administration/coaching and/or leadership experience in a school setting.
