Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instructs students, using various teaching methods, such as lecture, audiovisual aids, demonstration and other materials to supplement presentations relative to specific content field.
- Assigns lessons and corrects homework; administers tests to evaluate students’ progress, record results and issue reports to inform parents of progress.
- Maintains discipline in classroom.
- Supervise behavior outside the classroom (i.e., halls, bus, lunch/cafeteria, rest room duty.
- Prepares course outlines and objectives according to curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
- Guides and encourages secondary school age student athletes to make appropriate decisions about further participation in sport(s) and co-curricular activities.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree or higher required. The GHSA requires that coaches complete the ‘PREPARE/FIST AID” and the “Principals of Coaching” exams for the coached sport.
- Minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience preferred.
- Coaches are required to meet all policies and regulation in accordance with the GHSA Constitution and By-Laws.
- Certification by the State of Georgia in Education T-4 to T-7 and content area specialization as required by the GaPSC.
- Georgia High School Association Coaching exam required.
- Excellent classroom management required. Responsible for multiple functions of supervision (athletes, equipment and staff as needed) with a high-level accountability for effective operation and results.
