Description
Responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising the GISD strength and conditioning program in order to enhance athletic performance, athlete readiness and recovery for all high school and middle school athletes.
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree from accredited university.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI).
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
- Maintain current CPR/AED/First Aid certification.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Designs and supervises weight training and conditioning programs for all boys' and girls' sports at Gainesville High School for pre-season, in-season, and off-season. This includes setting up and taking down of all strength and conditioning equipment used on a daily basis.
- Works in cooperation with the middle school coaches to design and implement an effective strength and conditioning fundamental training model.
- Works in cooperation with athletic trainers in minimizing and rehabilitating injuries as well as the strengthening of injured athletes.
- Responsible for the daily operation of the strength and conditioning facility as well as the coordination and scheduling of the facility before, after the school day, and throughout the year.
- Establishes the fundamental philosophy, skill, and knowledge to be taught to the athletes in program.
- Prepares well-organized, written strength & conditioning plans which utilize the coaching staff and team to its maximum potential.
