Description
The head coach will help young athletes develop skills, improve performance, and enjoy track and field. They teach proper techniques, set goals, and create a positive, supportive environment, all while preparing athletes for meets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design drills tailored to specific track and field events (sprints, distance, hurdles, jumps, throws) to improve technique and performance.
- Develop endurance and conditioning drills to build stamina, strength, and overall fitness for the athletes.
- Assign specific duties to assistant coaches based on their expertise, such as overseeing particular events or age groups.
- Assist in resolving any challenges or conflicts within the coaching team or among athletes, offering solutions and support.
- Communicate with sport coordinators and event organizers to confirm event details, registration deadlines, and any specific requirements for the team’s participation.
- Provide ongoing updates to parents and athletes about any schedule changes, cancellations, or important last-minute details leading up to the competition.
- Perform related work as required and assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 Years of age.
- Comprehensive knowledge, training, and experience to perform essential job functions.
- Previous experience working/participating in track and field and with youth athletes.
- Must hold or be able to obtain a CPR/First Aid Certification prior to hire.
- Previous experience in coaching.
