Description
The Head Coach/Student Services Representative is responsible for supervising the assigned program in accordance with state and national regulations, including the recruitment and awarding of scholarships and assisting the Student Affairs Division with recruiting, advising, and events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise the program in accordance with state and national regulations.
- Recruit individuals for teams, including but not limited to attending tournaments; award scholarships to appropriate individuals.
- Host visits with recruits and their families; assist with finding living quarters.
- Determine the eligibility of athletes and make proper reports to the Alabama Community College Conference, National Junior College Athletic Association, and other appropriate agencies.
- Work to ensure the academic success of the players.
- Develop the schedule for the fall and spring sports seasons.
- Obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License.
- Maintain playing surfaces, including all associated facilities.
- Follow appropriate guidelines for the budget; request all purchases and secure requisitions and purchase orders as required by the Business Office.
- Cooperate with the bookstore to ensure the return of books provided to athletes on scholarship.
- Maintain appropriate insurance files and physicals on players.
- Promote and relate the program to the community.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Two years of documented playing in the sport at the intercollegiate level or 2 years of coaching experience in the sport at the high school or intercollegiate level.
- Experience using basic computer programs and applications.
